Green Choices

LB Water partners with contractors to institute Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design LEED® Green Building Rating Systems for a wide range of municipal, residential, and commercial projects.

LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health, including sustainable site development, water saving, energy efficiency, material selection, and indoor environmental quality.

LB works with a number of vendors who use some amount of post, pre, or a combination of recycled materials in the production of their products. This process can include post consumer-recycled material following public use.

For example, LB’s Ford Meter Boxes are manufactured with brass valves and fittings that utilize no less than 95% post-consumer recycled ingot. In addition, many of our cast iron products consist of no less than 90% post-consumer recycled materials.

LB also works with local vendors and U.S. manufacturers to limit how far products are transported in order to qualify within LEED certification guidelines. Companies we routinely partner with include Romac US Products, Cambridge Lee Copper, JM Pipe, Griffin Pipe, and Contech.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a 501 C3 non profit organization that certifies sustainable businesses, homes, hospitals, schools, and neighborhoods. USGBC is dedicated to expanding green building practices and education, and its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™.

LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building techniques, the LEED Green Building Rating System, and the certification process. The LEED AP program is administered by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), which was established with the support of USGBC to allow for objective, balanced management of the credentialing program.
