The FlexNet EasyLink™ Reader is a mobile data collection device that allows utilities to capture meter information from systems using Sensus SmartPoint® modules. Designed for use in the field, the Reader is compact, vehicle-powered, and easily deployed across service routes.
Its portable design enables data collection from water, gas, and electric meters without the need for permanent vehicle installation or fixed infrastructure.
Broad Compatibility
The FlexNet EasyLink™ Reader is built to work across both FlexNet, Itron, and Neptune environments. Utilities can gather meter data from SmartPoint modules as well as Neptune and Itron ERT devices using a single mobile solution.
This flexibility allows organizations to maintain existing ERT deployments while expanding or transitioning toward a FlexNet-based system at their own pace.
Plug-and-Go
Using the Reader requires minimal setup. Once placed inside a vehicle, operators can begin collecting meter data simply by driving their assigned routes.
The system offers multiple collection modes to align with different meter configurations, including both broadcast and on-demand reading. Alert settings can also be customized to flag specific meter conditions during collection.
Flexible System Upgrades
The EasyLink™ Reader is housed in a durable enclosure comparable in size to a small briefcase. When paired with the portable computer, antennas, and cables, the complete system can be assembled and ready for use in a short amount of time.
This design allows utilities to quickly convert standard vehicles into mobile meter-reading units.
Improved Reliability & Coverage
FlexNet® communications operate on protected radio frequencies, supporting dependable communication between the Reader and SmartPoint modules. The transmission power and licensed spectrum help extend read range and improve consistency in varied environments.
Both SmartPoint and ERT modules also provide system insight by identifying conditions such as tamper events, continuous usage, and low battery status.
Operational Efficiency & Reduced Cost
Meter data is managed through the FlexNet EasyLink™ Application, which features a menu-based interface designed for ease of use. Mapping functionality enhances efficiency by allowing users to tailor route views and focus on relevant operational data.
